Tips on how to Zen your home
So today I’m going to show how I’ve decorated a corner of my home and share my tips on how to create an inviting but simple place to relax.
To me, it’s very important to have a small oasis at home, when I need to unwind and shut the rest of the world out.
As you can see I’ve kept the colours neutral to keep the things calm and less stressful, but don’t fear to combine douche colours is that’s your fave hues.
The focal point of the room is the daybed, OGK Savbriks, it’s designed by the Danish designer Ole Gjerløv for Skovshoved Møbelfabrik. The design seems so crisp but yet a striking and versatile furnishing. The design was born in 1962 when Ole Gjerløv-Knudsen created it for his son, who was embarking on a camping trip. Savbriksen is delivered as a DIY kit and assembled within a few minutes.
Clutter is super stress-inducing so, of course, I’ve cut the clutter and decluttered. But stacked some of my books on the window sill to create a pleasant and inviting feeling.
Whether you’re into real or faux fur, soft furnishing is a must. Here I’ve used a gorgeous grey sheepskin rug from lammeskindsbutikken, a placewhere you can find the most lovely collection of rugs. All by-product of the farming industry so they are environmentally friendly and from a sustainable resource.
Trustme, when the weather finally allows me to nest on the terrace, both the rug, daybed, and a good book will be companioning me.
The artwork from a very talented young photographer, Søren Staun Petersen you can find his photographic art right here.
To add a little more interest to the room I’ve added something special for the beautiful daytime light.
I’ve always had a thing for mirror balls, and these supersized disco balls are serious therapy when the sunlight strikes. As you can see here hundreds of specks of light reflecting off the walls.
So to make a short recap on how to get the zen-feeling at home:
Simple furniture, use furniture with simple & neutral design
Use natural elements like, wood, linen or fur
Add that little something that makes your heart sing.
Hope you’ve been inspired and feel free to share if you’ve created a stress-free zone at home and how you gave it that spark that makes it your place to relax?
Thank you so much for reading and have a great day!
